Artist Statement

When people ask me what I like photographing, I have difficulty coming up with an “acceptable” answer. I take portraits, but I am not a portrait photographer. I take landscapes, but I’m not a landscape photographer. I shoot still lifes and flowers, but those do not define me either.

Instead of categorizing myself, I like telling people that I shoot anything that inspires me and speaks to me.

I don’t just take pictures of people and landscapes and flowers, I capture emotions and tell stories.

If my viewers don’t connect emotionally to my art, then I haven’t done my job. I don’t expect everyone to like my work or to “get” my style. All I want is for them to react. To feel something. I want my art to make an impact.
